Baking Blast coming to Greenfield near you...

Baking Blast - Coming to you in December 2025

Wow, Thanksgiving came in with a bang and out with a bang so to speak. I was thrilled to be able to go to a mill tour at Janie's Mill on Nov 6th and meet my sister for a visit but came home with a winter storm on my tail and again as I am writing this it's snowing outside again.  I think winter is saying hello!!

The tour at the Janie’s Mill was lots of fun and they have a yummy stuff with whole grains and many options. I am very excited about using more of their products. I have been using the rye, barley, wheat, and oat flakes in recipes since last winter. If you like porridge for breakfast their flakes work well for it. I like grinding them up more and using in baked goods also. They don't have the wheat flakes now but they have the others. Everything from Janie's Mill is organic and they endeavor to keep the flours healthier than you would normally get at the store. They keep the bran and germ in their flours so you do need to put them in the refrigerator or freezer for best results for long term. Their flours have more nutrition with the bran and germ still intact and more flavor.

I picked up some Cornmeal, Black Emmer flour, Semolina flour and Red Fife flour. The cornmeal is very interesting; it is called Bloody Butcher because the corn that it comes from is red in color. It is an Native American corn and it very yummy. I love the flavor and color when I use it in baked goods.

Anyway, just know that I have some exciting new flours, cornmeal, and other items to play with to make the goodies I make more nutritious and yummier. I have been working on using more wholegrains, I know all of us are trying to eat healthier.

I can deliver to your home (if you leave in the Greenfield town area) or meet you at the fairgrounds, near the awning where we have the summer market.

Don't forget this is not connected to the Farmer's Market. When you order anything, I can send you an invoice via Square or you can pay me when I drop it off.
